Arriving by car
Dartington Hall is easy to reach by car, with plenty of parking available across the estate.
Please allow a few extra minutes to park and walk over to Dartlings before your session begins.
Please may sure to park in a car park, the area outside Dartling is for business parking only.
From the A38
Leave the A38 at the exit signposted for Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, then follow the A385. After approximately five miles, the entrance to Dartington Estate’s Upper Drive is signposted on the left, shortly before Dartington village.
From Totnes or the South Devon coast
Follow the A385 through Totnes and Dartington village. The entrance to the Upper Drive is signposted on the right.
The Lower Drive entrance between Totnes and Dartington is quite tight for some cars, so the Upper Drive is generally the clearest route to use.
Parking
Parking is available within the main Dartington Estate. The most suitable parking area for Dartlings is the estate parking serving Higher Close and the surrounding buildings.
Dartington parking is cashless. Payment can be made at the parking machines or through the RingGo app. Please note for some mobile phone networks there is very little service, so you have three days to be able to pay for your parking in arrears.
Please check the signs and payment instructions when you arrive, as parking terms and charges are managed by Dartington Estate rather than Dartlings.
Allow enough time to park, unload children and walk to the Refectory before the beginning of your session.
Past Project
Travelling by bus
The 165 bus runs between Totnes and Dartington Hall or Broadhempston, stopping at the Cider Press Centre and the central estate.
Travelling by train
Totnes is the nearest railway station. It is approximately one and a half miles from Dartington Estate, which Dartington estimates as roughly a 35 minute walk or a 10 minute taxi journey. Bus connections are also available from Totnes.
Travelling with a buggy, young children or several bags may make a taxi the easier option.
Walking or cycling
Hello!Dartington Estate can be reached by several public footpaths, including a route from Totnes railway station. Some estate paths may be uneven or slippery during wet weather, so suitable footwear is recommended.
The Sustrans National Cycle Route 2 passes through the estate. Covered cycle parking is available near the main car park and behind the East Wing.
Acessability
We want Dartlings to feel welcoming and accessible to every family.
We are wheelchair and buggy friendly, with a spacious buggy parking area.
Please contact us before your visit if you have any specific access requirements or would like help planning your arrival.
